Guided Tours You choose what you want to see

If you would like to learn a lot about Vienna, only a knowledgeable, licensed local guide can deliver you a deep insight into this fascinating city and help you discover much more than you could do on your own! I keep striving to respond to your fields of interest while assembling our itineraries.

My morning tours start at latest at 9:00 AM on weekdays and at 9:30 AM on weekends. My afternoon tours start at 2:00 PM. Full day tours start at 9:30 AM. All tours are private tours with me, you and your travelling companions "on board", :) no others will join your tour. The tour fees are therefore always per private group, NEVER per participant. You book my time slot for the tour and whether there is one participant on the tour or several others it does not make any difference. Between April and September I also offer evening tours starting at 6:00 PM. My tours take place in every weather and in case of heavy lasting rain we will spontaneously tour a museum or two indoors so no worries because of the weather.

Customized guided tours make up my offer just as well tours of following topics:

Schönbrunn palace

guided tour of Schönbrunn Palace, its former Imperial Apartments as well as the best parts of the surrounding extensive park. Among Europe`s palaces this castle is perhaps the only one rivalling Versailles. The palace is vast, housing 1441 rooms. But don`t worry, only 40 rooms are accessible to the public, each of which having its own story to tell. May I tell you a secret? I love this palace and highly enjoy any tour there. If you take a first look at the picture here there is one thing you can`t see: the magnificent Baroque palace garden which will also be part of this great tour. Let`s explore it together!! Attention! Please don`t purchase online palace tickets in advance as those don`t work with guided tours. In case you book my services for a private tour of the palace I will make the necessary reservation for our tour together. (3hrs, walking tour, 250 Euros, EXcluding your entrance fees)

Schönbrunn family tour

Being a mom of five myself I love touring with families and make also the younger generations acquainted with Austria`s most famous and beloved palace. If touring Schönbrunn with families I include the highlight tour of the palace only (on the general Schönbrunn tour I tour the Grand tour of the state rooms) combined with the former imperial kids` apartments in the children`s museum and even parts of the gardens. (3hrs, walking tour, 220 Euros, EXcluding your entrance fees)

Guided tour of the Albertina and its permanent exhibition

Attention: This tour is not merely available during the day but on Wednesdays and Fridays due to the long opening times of this sight also in the evenings. On this lovely tour you will see a slightly less known gem among Vienna`s array of sights. The Albertina, formerly the mansion of an aristocratic couple houses not merely their lavish back then lived in apartments but also a top-notch picture gallery showing off works from Impressionism to Cubism, from Monet to Picasso. (2,5hrs, 220 Euros, EXcluding your entrance fees)

Viennese Art Nouveau walking tour

This walking tour of mine includes countless architectural jewels of the Viennese version of the Art Nouveau style. Beside the many buildings done in art nouveau we also visit a tiny little museum on the universal art nouveau city planner of Vienna, Otto Wagner. (3hrs, 250 Euros)

Vienna as the beating heart of the musical world

city walk with special emphasis on the music sights of the historical inner city regarding Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Strauss: not all of them a child of the city yet having spent most of their creative periods in Vienna. The musical city walk is followed by a guided visit to either the Mozart House Vienna or by the State Opera. (3hrs, 250 Euros, EXcluding your entrance fees)

St. Stephen's Cathedral in - depth tour

an indoor guided tour of Austria's national church, one of the most impressive Gothic jewels in Europe: we could also refer to it as the Gothic needle around which the city spins. This church and its towers give Vienna its most iconic image serving as its main landmark at the same time. Extending this tour to an in-depth cathedral tour it might include the church in and outdoor, the observation point, as well as the subterranean Virgil chapel. Attention! Please note that the subterranean Virgil chapel is closed for renovation at the moment. I can integrate a detailed indoor tour of the cathedral into any other tour though. (3 hrs, walking tour, 220 Euros EXcluding your entrance fees)

my beloved "Imperial Vienna" tour

This is combo tour of 3 indoor sights: the former imperial Treasury located in one of the myriad courtyards of the Hofburg palace hosting one of the world`s most stunning collections of royal regalia: a visit to the Treasury promises to be memorable as showing off sparkling crowns, jewels, gowns and assorted former private jewels of different members of the Habsburg dynasty. After having marvelled at the jewels I take you on a guided tour of the former Baroque imperial library known today as the state hall. So as to conclude our tour we visit the final resting place of the Habsburg family, the unique Imperial Crypt. This tour is the ideal extension of my first sight walking tour. (3 hrs, walking tour, 250 Euros, EXcluding your entrance fees)

Jubilee guided tour of the Belvedere palaces

The Belvedere palace complex celebrated its 300th birthday in 2023!! We will be exploring the two little palaces housing the Austrian National Gallery including world-class art starring Gustav Klimt but also showing works of other homegrown Austrian artists. The extremely fine Baroque garden connecting the two buildings is also part of our tour. (2,5hrs, walking tour, 220 Euros, EXcluding your entrance fees)

Special evening walking or museum tours

On weekdays I also offer evening tours between 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Vienna has a vast array of museums whereas some of them have a specific day of the week when they are open late. On Monday evenings we can do a music history related old town walk combined with a guided tour of the House of Music. On Tuesday evenings we can do a music walk as well as a guided tour of the Collection of Ancient Music Instruments. On Wednesday and Friday evenings we can tour the Hofburg quarter and the Albertina palace. On Thursday evening we can tour Vienna`s leading art museum the Kunsthistorisches Museum. (3 hrs, walking tour, 250 Euros, EXcluding your entrance fees)

Kunsthistorisches Museum ( Art History Museum )

Attention: This tour is not merely available during the day but on Thursdays also in the evening as an art for dinner tour due to the long opening times of this sight. The „Kunstkammer“ (for your comprehension we could loosely translate it as „Cabinet of curiosities and arts“) showcases a unique former private collection comprising about 2200 one of a kind works of art. On our tour in this „museum within the museum“ I pick out those highlights which all required spectacular craftmen`s skills from the Middle Ages up to the Baroque era not worth to be missed while visiting Vienna. I would be delighted to show you the so-called „Mona Lisa of sculpture“ on exhibit here created by an exceptional Italian master who was a universal man of his time, acting as a medallist, goldsmith, sculptor, musician, painter and writer at the same time.

The other collection we focus on while touring this museum is the top-top-notch picture gallery which is (being the sister of an academic painter as well as the mom of a future artist) very close to my heart. It`s absolutely worthwhile a visit as the collection enables me to show you the development of European painting from the Renaissance period up to Classicism. I promise you a memorable experience while wandering through this picture gallery with me, the fourth largest in the world! (4 hrs, 300 Euros EXcluding your entrance fees)

Guided tour of the Vienna State Opera

The Opera House always had a special place in the hearts of the Viennese. Following our visit through the gorgeous halls where the intervals are spent as well as the auditorium you will really have the impression having not just seen the Vienna Opera but having got to know it as well. Please note that a private guided tour of the opera is not possible every single day due to special rehersals etc. Weather I can include a guided opera visit into another tour I won't learn until the month before the tour takes place.

Imperial Vault

tour of the Capuchin Vault, the principal place of entombment of the Habsburg royalty, at the same time one of the most remarkable burial sites worldwide. It is here where most of the Habsburg greats lie buried in their uniquely fashioned coffins.

Indoor tour of the Hofburg

Former Imperial china and silver Collection (giving you an interesting insight into the dining culture of the Viennese court), Sisi Museum (focusing on the personality of the troubled Empress Elisabeth) as well as a guided tour of the former Imperial Winter Apartments which are the downtown version of the grander Schönbrunn palace.

Please remember this: tour guides in Vienna must be licensed to perform their services. To ensure high standards of tourism in Vienna, but also to protect you, the tourist visiting the capital, Austrian legislation requires that tour guides possess a license. On the job in the city, professional tour guides (who all have studied long and hard to earn their license) always wear or carry their license with them, to be shown upon request to the authorities.
